I was impressed by the moderator, caliber of folks attending the meeting, and the meeting's location. While I am a new member this was not my first user group meeting. This Meetup Group provides a medium in which interested folks can brush up on or learn new technology while also networking should they care to. My hat is off to you all!

As part of your job as a Java developer / architect, you have to make decisions based on what you know about the current state of open source and proprietary Java components that you could/should be using. This meetup group can keep you informed, and keep your experience more recent.

I heard about technologies that I could have learned about on the web - however, I wouldn't have thought to check it out: there are so many Java technologies out there, it's hard to keep up with all of them. So having it presented to you "on a silver platter" was very tasty.
