For our October meetup, we are extremely fortunate to welcome Fred Sauer, a Google Developer Advocate, who offered to do a presentation on Google Web Toolkit (GWT, pronounced /ˈɡwɪt/), an open-source web-development framework that helps Java developers build and maintain sophisticated JavaScript-based web apps (all in Java). For those that don't know, GWT is also the technology that powers Google Wave.

In addition to providing an overview of GWT, Fred will also touch on lessor known features and focus on those tools which are particularly useful for larger, more complex projects or in environments where the are multiple developers which need to collaborate on a single application.

(Note that this talk is different than the one Fred gave on GWT at SV-Web-JUG in June)

Pizzas for this event will be sponsored by Diana Henninger from TEKsystems and refreshments will be brought in by Gerry Cohen from Guidewire Software!

Be sure to stick around until the end to get a shot at winning books and other interesting goodies from Sun and O'Reilly, as well as a copy of IntelliJ IDEA from JetBrains.

Note that if you plan to attend, you absolutely need to RSVP before the cut-off date, or you risk not being able to get past the security guard. Even if you are unsure, just RSVP Maybe to add your name to the VIP list :-)

About Fred Sauer:
